Mach Zehnder

Hello all! This is the first of many posts about my MSci project on self-regulating lasers

We are currently knee deep in safety training - you know, to prevent the burning of retina's (although one does wonder what smell that would give off..) and general keeping-together of limbs...for neatness.

However, here is a crumpet of excitement!

Last week we set up a Mach Zehnder interferometer - here are some photos- spot the FAIL.

In the next post I will reveal our ultimate FAIL and then explain how this wonderous beauty works to produce this:

Did you, like, see the well 70s laser safety video? With the woman with the do? Sorry, the 'do'? From this video I learnt that if you set your eye on fire with a laser it's OK because all you need to do is set your forehead on fire too, and they cancel out.

And the best/worst/why-no-one-should-ever-sleep-with-me (mugs) thing about it is I have a copy! yeah!
